Sunday 19th October 2008 we held a poker run. Our intention was to land at Jasper's Brush near Berry, then lunch at Albion Park, fly up to Stanwell Park, then cross to Wedderburn and back to The Oaks.
Lined up, the RANS in front.
The day started well with very warm weather and light northerly winds. The kitty stood at $45. Two students, Phil (instructor Darryl) and Jamie (trainee instructor Nigel) were in the club training planes.
Jamie, proud but daggy.
Phil and Darryl in Lightwing 158.
Joe's Rans in the distance.
West of Mittagong.
Peter Sackett also used the occasion as a solo navigation training excerise in his Lightwing 081.
Joe brought his Rans engine up to scratch, Bill and Ian were in their Jabiru and Rick set off early in Lightwing 033.
First we tracked to Mittagong, where there was a little lumpy air, then heading west one group (faster) elected to fly north of Knights Hill and come around down the beach side from Albion. The others headed more directly. All found Jaspers easily.
Our hosts at Jaspers came out in numbers to greet us. They pressed us to stay for lunch, Albion Park would be too crowded. We couldn't say no!
