The Oaks airfield is just outside the Oaks township along Burragarong Road travelling west.
The airfield has a small sign. You can see a sad looking HS125 from the road.
The club and instruction vans are towards the end of the driveway, before the Qantas boarding stairs. Fortunately you won't need the stairs to get into your plane, although some people have used them to get better mobile reception.
If you have booked, there will be somebody around, unless your session has been cancelled due to bad weather - in which case you will be phoned. At other times there is often somebody around anyway, don't be afraid to strike up a conversation.
The airfield is quite a peaceful place. There is no problem sitting down with a cup of tea of coffee (free) or a soft drink ($1) and just watching the world go by.
Althought it's easy to spot the airfield on Whereis or Google Maps, here are some driving hints.
Coming from the North, East or most of Sydney.
If coming from most parts of Sydney, take the Narellan Rd exit from the South Western Freeway. It's the second exit labelled Campbelltown.
You are going to go over over the freeway and towards Camden.
After about 6 km, after Mt Annan, you take the Camden Bypass turn off.
Continue on, going over the long Macarthur Bridge.
Just after the bridge, take the second right which is Burragarong Rd. Follow this road all the way out, through Mt Hunter and continue through the Oaks to the airfield. The Oaks shops are on your left as you go through the township, on the Picton turnoff.
Coming from Penrith and points further West.
Come down Silverdale Rd to the Oaks and turn off at Burragarong Rd.
Cycling?
It is possible to cycle to The Oaks from Campbelltown Station. It's a long trip, you need to be fit.
Bikely.com has some hints on short cuts through Mt Annan.
Unfortunately, The Oaks is mostly uphill.
