Chief Flying Instructor's Report |
|
|
As you can see from our president's report, we are undertaking, with your support, a bold initiative.
I am confident it's the right move. I have been studying aircraft in this category for some time, flown a number of different craft, and have no doubt a new Foxbat is the way to go.
Insurance for two stroke trainers is getting harder to obtain. The maintainence costs, in general, for the older 081 will go up. It is better to sell her now while still in very good nick.
As an aside, if a member is interested in buying 081, perhaps in syndicate, we will be very keen. It is still a great trainer and we can arrange a complete training and craft package even for someone who has never flown before.
The Foxbat is a great plane. There are many good planes, some more suitable for certain situations than others. Training certification requires a factory built craft, which sadly rules out many kit planes.
The Foxbat has a cruise speed of 90kts, which is an advantage over the Lightwing for cross country. It has a stall speed of 27kts.
This bold venture requires us to support Joe in his role as president. I have many work commitments, but still try to get out to the field as many weekends as I can.
We used to have four instructors, and we have trained a number up to this level. Unfortunately they have either moved away, or taking on other directions. If you are thinking of advancing to instructor level, now is the time to act!
See you at The Oaks.
